Trading Terms: What is a Cripple Stud?

A lamb screw is a non-structural frame board above or below a window or door. Cripple studs act as mounting material for surfaces on each side. In roof construction, they are known as paralyzed roof beams, which usually cross with a break like a skylight or ventilation structure like a chimney.

Normally, 16 to 24 inches are placed apart, measured from their center, they keep the distance between the other pins in one surface and are usually made of the same material.
