So pamper yourself at home

You do not have to leave your home to relax and reward yourself. If you are trying to save money or just do not feel like going out, there are many small things you can do to treat yourself. Set aside time for pampering so that you actually do it. Many people like to create a spa experience at home, but you can do anything that makes you happy and improves your mood.

[[[[Edit]Enjoying a Spa day

  1. Light candles and turn on music to create a soothing environment. You do not have to spend a lot of money on a spa when you can easily make your home luxurious. Turn on multiple lights and turn off dazzling air lighting. Then turn on peaceful music to help you relax.[1]

    • Choose any music that helps you unwind. Try classical music, smooth jazz, natural sounds or soft pop, for example.
  2. Make a jug of spa water so you can sip while you relax. A nice spa can offer you a refreshing, cool plant water to drink, but you can easily do it at home! Fill a jug 3/4 full with ice water. Then add one of these tasty ingredients to make a unique spa water:[2]

    • Orange, lime or lemon slices
    • A handful of fresh herbs such as rosemary, basil or sage
    • Slices of peaches or nectarines
    • Chopped strawberries or whole blackberries and raspberries
  3. Soak in a bath of bubbles or Epsom salts. It does not take much to make your bathroom a soothing space. Take a hot bath and dissolve a bath bomb, Epsom salts or whirlpool in the water. Then soak the fragrant water for at least 15 to 20 minutes. This gives your muscles a chance to relax and gives you a mental break.[3]

    • If you do not have a bathtub, run a steaming shower. You can buy shower bombs that release essential oils for an aromatherapy experience.
  4. Wrap yourself in a thick, comfortable coat. Your spa time does not have to end when you get out of the bathtub. When you have dried out, you should have enough of a soft, fluffy coat instead of wearing jeans and a shirt. A large suit can make you feel like you should slow down and relax.

    • If you do not have a coat, wear clothes or pajamas so that you feel most comfortable. For example, you can wear sweaters and a cozy sweater.
  5. Warm soft towels and washcloths in a slow cooker with essential oils. If you plan to give yourself a facial, pour water into a slow cooker and add 5 drops of eucalyptus essential oil with 5 drops of lavender essential oil. Roll up your towels and put them in the stove. Then pour in another water. Put the lid on and turn the stove to medium so that the towels are heated.[4]

    • Feel free to replace the 10 drops of eucalyptus and lavender essential oil with the same amount of your favorite essential oil.
  6. Give yourself a facial with masks or things you have at home. The beauty aisles in most drug stores are filled with face masks, scrubs and peeling shells. Buy a product that matches your skin type or whip up a face mask with items in your kitchen.

    • For example, mix ingredients such as honey, coffee grounds and lemon juice to make a lighter facial scrub.
    • Make the face after you get out of the bath. Soaking in the bathtub allows the steam to open your pores so that your face is more effective.
  7. Cut your nails and paint them for a manicure at home. You may not be able to create the same detailed nail art as a salon, but it’s still fun to get polish and paint your own nails. If you have time, give yourself a pedicure too![5]

    • For an extra treat, buy yourself a fun, new color of nail polish.

[[[[Edit]Charges with a little quiet time

  1. Schedule time for pampering without interruption. If you take care of others, it is easy to put aside your own needs until you discover that you do not have the time or energy for yourself. Pencil in a little time just for you, even if it’s only half an hour while your child cocks. If you have more time, plan to give yourself a pampered afternoon or day.[6]

    • Setting aside time for pampering ensures that you actually do. Do not make excuses for giving up self-care.
    • Remind yourself that you deserve time to relax and focus on your needs. This is especially important if you spend a lot of your time caring for others.
  2. Call a friend if you feel social. Make a phone or video date and contact a friend you have not spoken to in a while. Set aside enough time for a truly in-depth conversation. This may involve setting a time in advance so that you know your friend is available.[7]

    • Make it fun! If you can not meet drinks or coffee, have a virtual date with drinks or dessert.
  3. Watch a movie or read a book you’ve been thinking about. If you have a short time most days, you can feel relaxed when you sit and watch a show or read a newspaper. Instead of feeling guilty about having some time, enjoy watching something or reading a new book.[8]

    • If you do not have a few hours to watch a movie, tell yourself that you can watch a show or read for 20 minutes before going to bed.
  4. Take a nap so you can fall asleep. One of the easiest things you can do to feel good is to get some rest. If you only have a little time to pamper yourself, get comfortable and take a nap. If you set aside a day of pampering, plan to go to bed early or sleep in so you can get 7 to 8 hours of uninterrupted sleep.[9]

    • To help you fall asleep, dim the lights in the room and stay away from bright screens. Avoid drinking caffeine or alcohol before going to bed.
  5. Go moving with a walk, yoga or running. This is a great way to pamper yourself if you do not get the chance to move around a lot during the day. Spend a few minutes stretching, meditating or doing yoga poses. If you have more time and feel it, take a walk in your area or go for a quick drive.[10]

    • Getting your blood pumped can make you more energetic so it’s a great way to pamper yourself in the afternoon when your energy levels start to drop.
  6. Put together a beautiful bouquet. Do not wait for a special occasion to get flowers. Buy your favorite flowers and arrange them in a nice vase. Looking at the flowers can brighten your mood and make your space happier.[11]

    • If you do not want to spend a lot on a nice bouquet, buy individual flowers that you can arrange yourself.

[[[[Edit]Pamper yourself with food or drink

  1. Eat an abandoned treat or dessert. Think about what motivates you or what would be an extra abandonment. For example, you can buy yourself something you usually save for special events such as muffins or a nice spread of cheese.[12]

    • If you are worried that someone in your house may eat your candy, mark it so that they know to leave it alone or hide it!
  2. Make a nice meal for yourself or have your favorite food delivered. If cooking helps you unwind, pick up the ingredients to cook a meal you’ve always wanted to try. Pair the meal with a nice drink and set up the table so that you get a nice atmosphere during the meals. If you do not like to cook or just want to relax, call your favorite restaurant and get a meal delivered.[13]
Pamper yourself at home Step 15 version 2.jpg
    • If you cook, make it fun! Turn on your favorite music and enjoy the process.
  3. Relax with a favorite drink in a few minutes of calm. Make a cup of tea, brew some coffee or pour a dram of whiskey and give yourself a chance to enjoy it. If you are like many, you feel rushed through your day, so taking a break can feel luxurious.
Pamper yourself at home Step 10 version 2.jpg
    • You do not have to limit yourself to one drink. If you have been through a long day and want to pamper yourself, pamper yourself with a dessert or your favorite meals.

[[[[Edit]tip

  • Make a plan to pamper yourself regularly, especially if you have been worried.
