How to tie two scarves together

No matter what your ultimate goal is, tying two scarves is relatively easy when you decide which scarves you want to pair! You can create an extra long scarf that is fun to twist and tie in different styles; or you can fold two scarves around each other so that you have different styles and patterns lying side by side for a fun visual effect. When people ask where you got your scarf from, you can enjoy telling them that you created the combination yourself.

[[[[Edit]Create an extra long scarf

  1. Choose two scarves with complementary colors or patterns. Part of the fun of combining two scarves is creating a new look with familiar parts. Take into account what the rest of your outfit will look like and try to choose scarves that share similar colors or shades. You can add fun and eye-catching details by choosing a scarf that has a different texture, such as sequins, metallic pieces or unique fabric.[1]

    • For example, a mustard yellow scarf together with a black, glittery scarf looks nice with a gray top and jeans or leggings.
    • Consider pairing a striped scarf with a solid one to add a little variety to your outfit.
    • If you are not sure what two scarves look like together, lay them out on your bed side by side. You can even put the top you want under them to see how everything comes together.
  2. Tie the ends of two flat-cut scarves to create a long scarf. Hold one end of each scarf in one hand each. Cross the ends over each other to form an “X”, then pull the end of one of the scarves under and around the other. Hold the two ends facing up, cross them to form another “X” and pass one end below and through the opening to create a knot. Pull the ends to tighten the knot so that it cannot be released. Leave the opposite ends undone.[2]
    • This works best with thinner scarves, such as those made of silk or satin, but you can also make it thicker.
    • Do not worry that the knot is visible. You can cover it by wrapping the scarf around your neck or hiding the knot under your hair. You can also simply let it show – it looks a bit like a bow and will not detract from your outfit.
  3. Connect two tasseled edges by tying the tassels together. Lay your scarves on a flat surface and stretch the edges so that the tassels face each other. Tie the tassels in arcs by crossing them to make an “X” and bring one slipper down and around the other. Create a circle with one of the tassels and hold it in place between your thumb and forefinger. Pull the other tassel around the circle and thumb to create a loop, then pull that tassel through the loop you just made to create an arc.[3]
    • Tying the tassels in arches makes them much easier to undo. To release the knot, pull everything you need to pull on one end of the slipper.
    • Tie all the tassels for a super secure connection, or just tie a few at the ends and in the middle to make it faster to undo later.
  4. Turn two scarves into an infinity scarf by tying all four ends. Take one end from each scarf in your hands and cross them to make an “X.” Lift one end down around the other and then pick up both ends and cross them to a second “X.” Take one end through the hole you made to form a knot. Repeat this with the remaining two ends to create an infinity scarf.[4]
    • Wrap an infinity cloth around your neck once and let it hang down to get a more bohemian look.
    • Sew the scarf around the neck two or three times so that the different patterns and colors play side by side.

  1. Choose two long scarves with colors or patterns that look good together. Although the scarves do not have to match or even be the same color, they do need to emphasize each other. Try laying two scarves side by side on the bed to see what they look like; You can also lay out the rest of your outfit to see if the whole outfit will look cohesive.[5]

    • For example, a forest green scarf paired with a tanned scarf would look great with a dark brown dress and boots.
    • Or try pairing a light red scarf with a pink and white striped scarf for a lighter yet complementary addition to your outfit.
    • This style does not work with infinity fabric.
  2. Fold both scarves in half so that they are half the length they normally are. Place a scarf in each hand and let them drape down to the ground. adjust them so that their ends are smooth. Or you can lay them out on the bed and fold them in half.[6]
    • The most important thing is to make sure that the ends are smooth so that one side is not longer than the other.
    • For this particular look, it helps if the scarves are relatively equally long. Otherwise, the attached scarf may look crooked when you wear it.
  3. Place one scarf over the other so that they form an “X.” Hold a scarf in each hand. Place one scarf on top of the other so that you see the letter “X” when you look down on them. You can also put them on the bed and create a large “X” if it is lighter.[7]
    • Remember to try to keep the ends of the scarves even when you make them.
  4. Release the upper scarf so that it folds around the lower one. Grasp both ends of a scarf in one hand and both ends of the other scarf in your opposite hand. This mainly folds the scarves around each other so that one scarf will hang down on your left side and the other hang down on the right.[8]
    • The great thing about connecting the scarves in this way is that you do not have to tie the fabric. It works well with scarves made of thicker materials or with fabrics that you do not want to wrinkle.
  5. Style the scarf by wrapping it around the neck or wrapping it in another way. You can simply let the scarf hang around your neck for a simple addition to your outfit or wrap it around your neck once or twice to let colors and patterns play closer together. You can also tie the scarves in a bow, make a figure 8 knot or braid the ends together.[9]
    • At the end of the day, all you need to do to remove your scarves is pull them apart.

  • Tying scarves together is a really easy and fun way to replace your accessories!
  • Try different color and pattern combinations to update the look of your regular clothes.
