To photograph the moon, start by mounting the camera on a tripod so your image doesn't get blurred. Then turn off the camera's autofocus and adjust the focus manually until the moon looks clear and detailed through the camera. Then choose the shortest shutter speed available on your camera, which prevents a halo of light from appearing around the moon in your photo. Finally, use the shutter timer on your camera to take the picture so that your handshake does not destabilize it. For tips on choosing a good time and place to photograph the moon, scroll down!
