[ Edit ] Collecting the Snow and Keeping It Cold

  1. Clean a bowl and let it dry. Clean your bowl with laundry and warm water. Let the bowl air overnight, or use a towel to dry it if you want to use it immediately. [1]
    • The bowl must be as clean as possible because you eat snow as you collect it. [1]
      • 19659005] Making sure the bowl is dry will prevent unwanted ice from forming at the bottom of it.
    • Place the bowl in a safe place outside while it is snowing. Place it on a picnic table or the smooth top of a dog house where it is not easily beaten. Falling snow is generally much cleaner than snow on the ground, so collecting it in a bowl is the best way to get clean snow for your snow cream. [2]

      • Refrain from putting the bowl on the ground to prevent small animals from entering it.

      • If you put too much ice and water in this bowl, if you put the snow in it, it can cause the water to overflow and pour out of the sides.
    • Take the bowl inside when it is full and place it in the ice bath. You want to collect snow, which is equal to the volume of your bowl. [4]
      • For best results, use snow immediately after you collect it. But if you can't use it directly, storing it in the freezer until you read to add the other ingredients to it is the next best thing.

[ Edit ] Mix your ingredients in the snow

  1. Whisk your milk, sugar and vanilla extract in a separate bowl. Mix milk, ½ cup (50 grams) granulated sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl with high sides to prevent the milk from ejecting. Continue whisking these ingredients until completely blended. [5]
    • You can use any type of milk for this step, including condensed milk!
    • If you want to make flavored snow cream, use chocolate or strawberry milk for this step.
  2. Add the milk and sugar mixture to your snow. Use a wooden spoon to mix the milk mixture and the snow together. Chop and stir the ingredients with the spoon until they start to resemble the ice cream texture. [6]
    • Make sure the ingredients are evenly mixed. You should not see any lumps of sugar or dark spots in your mix.
  3. Add your snow cream if desired and serve. The snow cream melts fairly quickly, so serve it directly with small bowls for best results. Some examples of toppings to put on your snow cream include sprinkles, chocolate chips, cherries or whipped cream. [7]
    • Unfortunately, if you store your snow cream in the freezer, it will freeze to a solid block of ice, so you must eat it immediately.
