About this article
To knit a stitch stitch, add first on as many stitches as you want. Then take the work yarn in front of the needle. Slide the tip of the work needle into the front loop of the first stitch so that your needles make an "X". Wrap the work yarn counterclockwise around the work needle or needle closest to you. Hold the left index finger on the first seam so that it does not slip off, take down the working needle so that the tip is at the base of the seam. Move the needle tip to the back of the stitch and move the needle up so that the seam slides on the working needle. Finally, pull the working yarn to tighten the backstitch on your right needle.
