How to grease and flour a pan: 9 steps (with pictures)

To lubricate and melt a pan, select a medium for lubrication, such as butter or shortening, and cut a piece of wax paper large enough to hold about 1 tablespoon of the fat. Hold the wax paper in your hand with the grease up, then spread the grease over the inside of the pan and make sure all the surfaces are covered. Then dust the pan with 1-2 tablespoons of flour or cocoa powder, tilt the pan so that the flour covers every part of the pan where there is fat.
