If you have a rug, you have probably come across some rug stains over the years. To avoid having to install a new carpet, you can deal with ordinary carpet stains with ordinary household items.
A bottle of red is notorious for coloring. If you have dropped a glass or tipped a bottle, you need to work fast. First, apply boiling water to the stain. It may look like the stain gets bigger with the water, but it will be much easier to clean this way. Then pour a generous amount of table salt over the stain. Mix, if possible, equal parts club soda and vinegar and then apply the mixture.
When your stain is wet, you should drain it. Do not scrub or rub. Use an old towel and rinse it regularly. Turn it off with other rags often when it gets too wet to soak up something.
If that does not work, mix three parts hydrogen peroxide to one part detergent and attack the stain in the same way.
A broken pencil in the carpet is really worrying. They say it is more powerful than the sword and if you do not act quickly it can also conquer your carpet. As soon as you can spray your ink stain with glass cleaner. That type of ammonia works best. Let the cleaner sit on the ink for about a minute and wipe it with a cloth. Repeat this process over and over until the ink lifts.
You know this trick works if you can see the glass cleaner bubbles a little and pull the ink up into it. It can even change color before you start removing.
The glass cleaner also works to remove dried ink, but the process requires a little more time and much more glass cleaning.
If you have a light carpet, you can use oxyclean to lift the remaining paint a few days after the original stain has been removed.
Coffee stains, old and new, can be tackled with Woolite INSTAclean stain remover for pets or a similar stain remover for pets. Made to deal with pet stains, this cleaner quickly lifts and removes coffee stains from the carpet. Just follow the instructions on the back of the bottle.
If you do not have pet cleaning, sprinkle with baking soda and a small amount of warm water and scrub it. Try not to send the stain deeper into the carpet fibers, but you can be a little more aggressive with this mixture.
If baking soda and water do not cut it, you can use beer or vinegar on the stain. Soak the stain in your desired liquid and let it sit for one to two minutes. Then soak the stain with a cloth using a blotting motion.
Coke, or any other cola soda, can leave a large brown spot on the carpet. Pour some club soda on the coke stain as soon as you see it and follow it up with a generous amount of baking powder. Let the mixture sit and then wipe it up with a towel. Then add club soda and baking powder again, let it sit and then pour vinegar over the mixture. Drain it again with a clean towel and repeat until the filling stain is lifted.
You can also use a bleach-free detergent to scrub into the stain. Scrub it with a little water, dry it and then use a wet vacuum to soak up excess liquid.
You can take the time to enjoy the rest of your chocolate if you drop a little on the carpet ̵
Once you have removed what you can, take detergent and warm water and put a small amount on the carpet. Use an old toothbrush to scrub the stain and wipe it off with a cloth. Repeat until you are spotless.
No matter what you spill on the carpet, there is usually a way to do it yourself. With a little elbow and a lot of trial and error, you can have a clean carpet regardless of spillage.
