How to Bake Mini Cupcakes

Mini muffins are the perfect piece of bite size and they can be made as simple as regular muffins with a few modifications. You will need a mini muffin pan and lining to fit the pan. Prepare a batter, either by using a recipe or buying a cake batter mixture from the store. Remember that mini cupcakes do not take as much time as regular cupcakes to bake, so follow them when they are in the oven to make sure they come out well.

    • If you do not have a mixer, you need to mix the butter and sugar by hand with a spoon spatula.
  2. Add eggs and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture. Crack an egg into the large mixing bowl and start mixing it. When the egg is mostly mixed, open the other egg and mix it again. Pour in vanilla extract after both eggs are added. [2]

  3. Mix the dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Pour flour, baking powder and salt into the new bowl. Use a whisk to stir these three ingredients so that they are well blended. [3]

    • Use a fork if you do not have a whisk.
  4. Combine the milk and cream before adding everything to the large bowl. Mix milk and cream in another separate bowl and then slowly pour the dry ingredients and milk / cream into the large bowl. Do this in 3 batches instead of at once, pour half of the dry ingredient mixture into the large bowl, followed by all the milk / cream mixture and then the rest of the dry ingredients. [4]

  5. Combine the ingredients in the large bowl for 1 minute. If using a mixer, turn it to medium-high and beat the ingredients for 1 minute. If you do not have a mixer, stir the ingredients together until the batter is smooth and ready to pour. [5]

  6. Use a store-bought batter blend as an alternative to making your own. If you have some time or ingredients, pick out a cake mix from your local grocery store. You have many options to choose from, such as chocolate, vanilla or red velvet. Follow the instructions on the box to prepare the batter for pouring.

    • Although the instructions can instruct you how to make a cake, the ingredients and instructions for preparing the batter will be the same for making mini cupcakes.

[ Edit ] Distribute and cook the battery

  1. Line a mini cupcake pan (or silicone baking cups) with mini muffin lining. Make sure the liners are mini muffin liners and not candy bowl liners – the candy bowl liners get too small. If you have two mini cupcake pans, fill both with mini muffin liners, as you can probably make 48 mini cupcakes. [6]
Bake Mini Cupcakes Step 7 Version 2.jpg
    • 1 mini cupcake pan produces 24 mini cupcakes.
    • If you only have 1 mini cupcake pan, you can bake cupcakes in batches.
    • You can find mini cupcake pans in a large box store, home department store, or online.
  2. Use a cookie scoop or spoon to disperse the batter. A cookie scoop works well because you can easily pour it into any feed. If you do not have a cookie scoop, you can only use one tablespoon or small spoon. Dip the cookie scoop or spoon into the batter to start pouring. [7]

    • You can also pour the batter into a sealable plastic bag and snip from the bottom of the bag to create a unique tube bag that you can easily squeeze the batter from.
  3. Fill ⅔ of each feed with batter. Skip the batter in each feed, slowly walk around the entire pan until you have done everything 24. You may need to experiment with how much batter you cut up each time – it is better to fill the liners with too little batter than too much at once, which You can always add more. [8]
Bake Mini Cupcakes Step 9 Version 2.jpg
    • Filling the liners all the way to the top causes them to float over when baked.
  4. Bake mini muffins on for about 15 minutes. Check the mini muffin after 9 or 10 minutes and hold a toothpick in the middle of one. If the toothpick gets clean they are ready! If the batter appears on the toothpick, leave it for about 5 minutes more. [9]

    • The edges of the cupcakes become golden when they are ready.
    • Keep an eye on the muffin makers as they bake – mini cups tend to cook very quickly and you don't want them to burn.

[ Edit ] Decorating the Cupcakes

  1. Make your own glaze if you have all the ingredients. Most glazes require simple ingredients such as butter, powdered sugar, vanilla and heavy cream. There are many different recipes to choose from when creating a glaze, so review your pantry and see what ingredients you can turn into a glaze for your muffins. [10]

    • For example, you can create a simple frosting with heavy cream and semi-sweet chocolate.
  2. Buy store-bought glazes for a quick fix. Visit your local grocery store to pick up a container of icing available in flavors like chocolate and vanilla. 1 container should be plenty of frosting for ice mini cupcakes.

    • Buy vanilla frosting and use food coloring to make it a different color, if desired.
    • Shop frosting works best when you spread it directly on muffins with a spreading knife.
  3. Create a tube bag to freeze muffins in a quick and elegant way. Fill a disposable decoration bag (or just a resealable plastic bag) with the glaze. Cut off the lower tip of the bag and then squeeze out the frosting in a swirl on top of the muffin. [11]
Bake Mini Cupcakes Step 13 Version 2.jpg
    • Test your tube in advance by squeezing the frosting on a napkin or plate before freezing the muffins, if desired.
    • When cutting the bottom tip, make a small incision. You can always make the cut larger if you want more frosting to come out at once.
  4. Use a spreading knife to decorate each muffin with a flat layer. Dip a spreading knife into your frosting and start laying frosted on muffins. Smooth the frosting over the muffins so that the entire top is covered, walk around in circles with your spread knife until you are happy with how it looks. [12]
Bake Mini Cupcakes Step 14 Version 2.jpg
    • Since they are mini cupcakes you do not need to scoop out lots of icing – 1 small spoon should do the trick.
  5. Add some embellishments to mini muffins, if desired. You can put litter, sweets or other small edible substances on muffins. It is best to add the embellishments immediately after adding the frosting. If the frosting has already hardened, things like sprinkles or small edible flowers cannot easily adhere to the frosting.
