Before ironing a dress shirt, check the label and set the iron to the correct fabric setting. Then unlock the shirt and place one of the sleeves on an ironing board so that the seams are aligned. Then iron the sleeve on both sides and repeat with the other sleeve. When you have done that, iron the collar of the shirt to remove any creases.
