About this article
To start an ice bath, fill your tub halfway with cold water and add half of a bag of ice. Be sure to dip a thermometer in the water and add warm water if the temperature drops below 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Otherwise you risk damaging your skin. Before jumping in, wear shorts and foot boots to protect your sensitive areas from getting too cold. When you start taking an ice bath, just lower the lower half of the body, as you can shock the body by overdoing it. After 6 to 8 minutes of relaxing in the tub, go out, wipe off and put on a sweater to warm yourself. Avoid spending more than 20 minutes in an ice bath, as it can be dangerous to your health.
