To make a basic sandwich, first take two slices of your favorite bread, such as French, white or wheat bread. Then spread spices, such as mustard and mayo, evenly on each slice of bread. Then add your main filling, such as deli, egg salad or hummus, on top of one of the bread slices. If using deli meat, fold the meat instead of stacking the pieces flat to create height and texture. Follow up with cheese, like thinly sliced cheddar, provolone and Swiss, if you like it. Add other toppings, such as tomatoes, red onion or lettuce, last to prevent shyness. Finish by placing the second loaf of bread on top. Finally, cut the sandwich in half to make it easier to eat and dig in! For delicious sandwich-topping and filling ideas, read on!
